LEGISLATIVE DAY
Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in Lansing.
Caregivers and Alzheimer's Association Advocates from all over the state will be meeting at the Capital Building in Lansing at 10:00 am. Free Transportation may be available in your area. To register or for more information, please contact Carrie at 248-996-1059 or email carrie.collins@alz.org.

WHAT IS PUBLIC POLICY?
Public policy is the development of laws and regulations that impact consumers in the marketplace.

WHAT IS ADVOCACY?
Advocacy is the act of individuals actively supporting a cause, policy or idea. An initiative is undertaken by advocates to influence legislation, public opinion and attitudes towards a law, regulation and/or public program.

WHY?

  • To bring the concerns and needs of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other related disorders, and their families to the awareness of elected officials and government.
  • To influence and impact public policy issues.
  • To have many voices-one message.

HOW?

  • Become an advocate click here
  • Write, call, visit a public official.
  • Attend a public hearing or forum.
  • Testify before a public hearing.
  • Attend a rally in Lansing.
