Announcements:

LOOKING FOR HELPLINE REPRESENTATIVES - If you enjoy talking to people and making a difference in someone’s day, consider being a Harry L. Nelson Helpline Representative! A variety of shifts are open to take calls and assist individuals during their time of need. Training provided. Computer skills and good interaction skills are required. Basic knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia preferred.  If you are interested, please contact Human Resources at 248-351-0280 or visit our website at www.alz.org/gmc. (please do not distribute to support group participants)

Tips:

Facilitators need support too!  There will be times when you look back on a group and wish that you had done something differently or handled a situation a bit better than you did.  Don’t be discouraged.  Look at these situations as learning experiences.  Your chapter staff contact can be a tremendous support and wants to help.  Facilitator Refresher Trainings will provide a chance to talk with your peers and exchange ideas.  Look for a flyer soon for the next Training.

Any questions or concerns regarding your support group, do not hesitate to call Treena Horton, Program Coordinator at 248-996-1058 or Treena.Horton@alz.org

Policies:

Please remember to submit attendance sheets within a week of your group meeting. It is important to include the date, number of volunteer hours, and circle the facilitator's name. Attendance sheets may be faxed to the Program Services fax # 248-799-4196.
